This is a list of interesting, useful, and visually attractive sites that we've found on the WWW. All of these actually existed at the time we visited them. Some of the sites listed below have special requirements, which are noted at the end of the description.

Great subject index site for nerds, geeks, and innocent tech-oriented
folks. Seems pretty fast, too.
The Web Site Garage
Nice web page tune-up service for free, also offers comprehensive
services for commercial clients. Good explanations and
suggestions.
Computer Shopper NetBuyer
Buying PC hardware and software these days can be a real trial.
The best magazine for serious consumers also has the best on-line
product pricing web site.
Art by Math / Fractals Artshow
A visually delightful web site, also has art links and
product data. Worth a visit, but bring a fast modem because some of
the best images are pretty big. (Also has cool music if you're set
up to receive MIDI background tunes)
Earth-Cam
Incredibly cool site for live internet cameras and
other live data,
nice organization and good content.
Virgin Cola A nifty web forum area with a british soft-drink motif.
Nobel Prize Internet Archive
Complete Internet archive of Nobel prize information, news, and links. [Note:
makes heavy use of frames]
World Wildlife Fund - WWF2000 Site
Information and pictures related to the WWF's Living Planet Campaign. A
striking and professional site about a serious business - endangered species.
The Mote Marine Laboratory
Web site of a marine research institute, aquarium, and educational
organization in south Florida.
Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco
An excellent museum site, with information about the main art
joints in City by the Bay. Also has a very large and well-organized
Art Imagebase.
Nintendo
of America
Flashy Nintendo site with information about the new Nintendo-64 gaming
platform. [Note: uses frames]
Library
of Congress - American Memory
A beautiful and informative site on American history assembled by the
US Library of Congress. Includes links to original photos and primary source
documents.
CRAYOLA
Crayon Co. Home Page
An entertaining and informative site by the company that makes everybody's
favorite artistic tool! Even includes a game about the Loch Ness monster.
Wellness
on the Web with Graham Kerr
The Galloping Gourmet's healthy cooking web site, with a nice FAQ and
pictures of healthy food.
Killer
Sites Online (Core Page)
The home web space of the book Creating Killer Web Sites. An
excellent example of the visually compelling site design espoused by the
book.

ZooNet Image Archives
Gobs of pictures of zoo animals, with different features each week.

event calendar. Emphasis on value in wine, and flashy but well-organized
web pages. [Uses very fancy 2-D layouts]

Extremely information and well-organized web site, with up-to-minute
computer news.
