Please let me suggest that you try the schizophrenia.com page. Lots of info and more support than here. > My father lives with me and is 83 years old. He gambles his entire retirement and disabilty income away in 3 days. He has always been a gambler and mentally ill (at least for my 46 years of life). I believe his illness was labeled manic depression with schizophrenic tendancies on something I read from the V.A. years ago. He lost the small house that he owned about 3-4 years ago. He lived with my sister for about 1 1/2 years and now with me about 1 1/2 years. He borrows from loan sharks and travels by bus to the city everyday to gamble and to check his mail box for the sweepstakes. It hurts just watching him wasting away his last years, and constantly putting himself in danger. I didn't expect him to change when he moved in but he's getting worst. You can't talk to him at all and he doesn't stay on subject. I have health problems and a family and I just don't know what to do. I'm tired. Any suggestions, or food for thought?
