I am a MFT and I specialize in the chemical nature of biochemical disorders, though I am not a medical doctor, I have 20 years experience. Drugs can cause what is called drug induced psychosis, and or drug induced schizophrenia. However, it is almost for sure that it is a predisposition which can come out of genetic dormacy with the right environmental and chemical influences. These children, individuals, are delicate to begin with from an early age. Their ideas and ways of processing information have always been a little bit odd. Also, attention deficet disorder with or without hyperactivity is almost always a precurser, or and a part of many disorders. also, be careful and get Aspergers syndrome ruled out with carries with is a 10% prognosis for schizophrenia (high functioning autism), intellect is totally in tact or above average, but social skills and usually math is a no go. go check out the oasis website for Aspergers.
