The infamous Cu Chi Tunnel SystemSpend the cooler morning hours experiencing a brief glimpse of Guerrilla life in the "trenches". Crawl through fifty yards of the 120 mile tunnel system which served as both a home and staging area for Vietnamese guerrillas during the war. Live fire one of the weapons of choice (M16 or AK47) at the optional firing range.
Explore the infamous tunnels of Cu Chi and see how the "other side" lived. Drive on to Tay Ninh where you will behold the "All Knowing - All Seeing Eye" and statue of the patron saint, Victor Hugo at the Cao Dai Temple. Caodaism is a combination of Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, and Catholicism whose followers number around two million. Lunch is provided. My Tho and The Mekong DeltaFrom 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM enjoy the sights of the countryside during the 50 mile drive from Ho Chi Minh City to My Tho. Take a boat trip on the Mekong River and pay a visit to a farming "ville" to view the Vinh Trang Buddhist Pagoda. Lunch is provided.
A two hour, 78 mile, drive from Ho Chi Minh City past Bien Hoa, vast rubber plantations, and rice paddies takes you to Vung Tau, one of the most popular seaside resort areas of Vietnam. Bien Hoa excursionHead east from Ho Chi Minh City (17 miles) over the Saigon Bridge, past the old RMK facility in Thu Duc and the former Long Binh staging area to Bien Hoa. Tour the city and visit the Dona Ceramic Factory, which produces some of the finest ceramic products in the country. Lunch provided.
Lai Thieu - Binh DuongSit back and relax during the one hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City (25 miles) to Lai Thieu where you can sample a wide variety of exotic Vietnamese fruit at a tropical orchard. Search for bargains while visiting a ceramic and a Lacquer ware factory. Lunch provided. Ben Tre excursionFollowing a leisurely hour and a half drive to My Tho, climb aboard a boat for a smooth ride on the Mekong River to Ben Tre. Upon arrival, visit a former retreat of the Coconut Religious Sect and do a little bird watching in a bird sanctuary. Lunch provided. Vinh Long excursionBe prepared for a full day of sightseeing Mekong Delta style, including a ferry crossing of the Mekong River, during the drive from Ho Chi Minh City south to Vinh Long. From there, take a boat trip on one of the hundreds of smaller waterways prevalent throughout the Delta, visit a floating market, and stop by a farmer's house for lunch.
